Pinup Girl Makeup Tutorial

As requested by my dear cousin all the way across the country, I present to you all, my version of pinup girl makeup. I put a modern twist on a classic look, highlighting more than the true to period makeup. With so many advances in cosmetic technology, why not upgrade the look a little? My new must-have for a modern pinup look is MAC’s new Electric Cool eye shadow in “Pure Flash!” It adds the perfect amount of shine and irridescence┬áto your lid for a hint of glamour. The most important factors in a pinup look are the winged liner and defined eyebrows. Tamed and sculpted brows give that polished finish that pinup models have. Brows are usually forgotten in most people’s makeup routine, but the attention you give to them can make or break your look. In my Pinup Girl Makeup Tutorial, I use some of my favorite beauty products including some new Sigma brushes. Thanks for watching. Enjoy!

Pick of the Week: Tarte Cheek Stain

I can’t get enough of Tarte Cheek Stain. It looks so natural and blends so easily with your fingertips. A 1 ounce stick of this solid gel based stain will last you a lifetime. It’s loaded with anti-oxidant packed ingredients such as passion fruit, goji berry, and pomegranate extracts. It’s paraben and fragrance free, plus Tarte helps save the Amazon Rainforest! It’s a little pricey at $30, but if can, this would be a great splurge. Don’t know how to apply it? Watch my Quick Demo featuring Tarte’s limited edition True Blood Cheek Stain.

Monster High Makeup Tutorial: Lagoona Blue

Hey Dolls! This Monster High makeup tutorial is for little girls. Yay! My beautiful daughter, Chibi Kitsch, will be the smart and gorgeous Lagoona Blue this Halloween. For her look, I omitted foundation, powder, eyeliner and mascara. I just think that’s too much for a 9 year old to wear, not to mention the difficulty of taking it all off. You can complete this look in 5 minutes with inexpensive alternatives to what I used.

List of Products:

Eyes:
Lancome Color Design Shadows – Personal Style (blue), Drape (white), Drama (purple)

Lips:
Lancome Color Design Lipstick – Poodle Skirt
Lancome Color Fever lipgloss – Sunbaked Coral

Face:
Estee Lauder Duo-Tone Eye Pencil – 02 Aquateal (limited)

Maker Faire NC 2011 Video

I had the wonderful opportunity to be a volunteer at North Carolina’s 2nd Maker Faire. The Maker Faire that originated in my hometown of San Mateo, CA in 2006 is the largest DIY Festival in the world! Unfortunately, I had already moved out of the Bay Area in 2004, so I never got a chance to go to one until last year in Durham, NC. The Maker Faire NC 2011 was held in Raleigh at the fairgrounds and more than double the amount of last year’s attendees showed up! I got to meet some inspiring Makers and I wanted to share a little of my experience with all of you. If there is a Maker Faire near you I highly suggest you go. It’s great for little kids too! Enjoy my video!

Kitschkween’s Makeup Videos on Vimeo!

I love Vimeo! It’s a positive, encouraging community of artists that share their passion to create in the form of video. The site is clean, organized and aesthetically pleasing. There aren’t annoying ads everywhere, nor mean spirited viewers that leave hateful, unproductive criticism. This site is about sharing your art, and building a support system. I actually have more videos posted on my Vimeo Channel than on YouTube because there are less limitations. YouTube makes me compromise what I want my finished product to be, so you’ll also notice slight differences in some of the original videos on Vimeo. If you haven’t subscribed to my channel yet, please do. On my channel, you can watch makeup videos that include tutorials and cosmetic product reviews. I give away the more exclusive and hard to find beauty products for Vimeo contests, so it benefits subscribers all the way around.
