Joe’s Love Monster

Happy Birthday Hunny!
My daughter drew a monster for her daddy’s birthday while he was on a business trip. Since I’m a SAHM I don’t think buying him a present really counts as a gift from me, so I made him one. I thought it was great that Melody came up with the idea for buck teeth all on her own. I didn’t get braces until after she was born and Joe says how much he misses my “food grabbers” sometimes. I added the hearts in the eyes and gave him a best friend that I had been working on.

Meet Huggy Monster.

Here he is with his best friend, Fluffy. Fluffy got ran over by a car. After a mad scientist put him back together, Fluffy ate off all his limbs.

Huggy likes to vacuum.

Huggy and Fluffy’s favorite game is “vacuum the dust bunny.”

Here they are going out to lunch.

Bye!

My first aprons!

I love aprons! I have about 10 of them from swaps. I called the first one I ever received my “magic apron,” because it mysteriously made me want to cook and clean. I had some leftover fabric, so i decided to give it a shot. Of course I didn’t use a pattern, I just kind of guessed.

here’s a full apron for my daughter (a crafter in training):

thanks for looking!

i’ve been a bit fabric-ish lately

Nitting Ninja hasn’t really been knitting a whole lot since moving to Florida. It’s hard to get motivated enough to invest so much time into knitting something the weather won’t allow me to wear. Just looking at my yarn stash makes me want to turn up the A/C, so I looked to my other stash…fabric!
I’ve really kicked up my sewing skills a notch or two. I went from pathetic attempt to novice! woohoo! In the past month, I’ve made a cute top for myself, baby stuff, and get this… a quilt! Who new?

Here is what my sewing frenzy whipped up:

The old trusty boy-beater tank in super awesome $1/yard fabric:

Now if only I could sew as fast as I accumulate fabric.

Warning: Long Boring Intro

I crocheted a clutch by accident last weekend, and don’t know what to do with it. It all started when I picked up a hook and started crocheting. I didn’t know what I was making, I just needed to keep my hands busy. Then I noticed what I was hooking started to resemble a flower, so that’s what I called it. It looked kind of bad, so I made a smaller layer to go on top of it. It still looked bad, so I sewed one of those Japanese flower thingies as a 3rd layer. Well, there was still a hole in the middle, and that’s where the button came in. Now what to do with the flower? I didn’t make a hat since winter is almost over, so I decided to put it aside.
On to my next random project: I started with a chain and just kept crocheting row after row. I wanted practice, so I half double crocheted the cream rows and ribbed the pink rows. That’s when I decided to make it into a clutch. I didn’t really like how it was turning out. The colors I used (trying to de-stash) made my clutch look like uncooked bacon. So I figured I’d put the flower on there so It wouldn’t look like brakfast. After that was done, I went to store, bought some fabric and wallah:
